We’re so excited you’re thinking about sharing your work with the Atlas Thread project. Check out the guidelines below around how to submit.
General guidelines
All submissions should somehow reflect the spirit of Baja California Sur.
Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere. If your work is published elsewhere after you submit here, please let us know.
Written Submissions
Format: PDF or Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx). Double-spaced, 12-point font
File Naming: Use the format “LastName_Title.docx”
Ex: “Lopez_RoadsOfDust.docx”
What We’re Looking For:
Longer Pieces: 3,000–5,000 words
Ex: Travel Memoir. A personal journey intertwined with place, e.g., "No Maps for This: Riding Baja’s Forgotten Roads" ~5,000 words)
Medium-Length Pieces: 1,000–3,000 words
Ex: Feature Story. Highlighting a niche cultural element, e.g., " "Eating the Sun: The Strange, Short Life of a Pitahaya" ~2,400 words)
Short Pieces (<1,000 words)
Ex: Poetry. A lyrical piece, e.g., "Cactus Shadows" (~300 words)
Visual Submissions
Format: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF
Resolution: Minimum 300 dpi for print quality
Size: At least 8.5 x 11 inches (2550 x 3300 pixels) or scalable for larger displays
File Naming: Use the format “LastName_Title.jpeg”
What We’re Looking For: We’re open to a range of styles and mediums, but we’re especially drawn to work that:
Evokes a strong sense of place
Can be reproduced beautifully in print
Tells a story or complements written pieces thematically
